The organization of the ESF EUROSUP Championship welcomes you to the 2023 edition, that is going to take place in the Wave Capital, Peniche, Portugal, from october 14th to 22nd.

In order to plan your participation in the2023 ESF EUROSUP Championship we have put together some important iformation.

Some of the topics will be explained further in future information however, this information will give you the opportunity to already plan your trip to Peniche in Portugal.

ABOUT PENICHE

Peniche is a charming coastal town nestled in Portugal, known for its captivating landscapes, rich history, and vibrant atmosphere. Situated about 100 kilometers north of Lisbon and 250 kilometers northwest of Porto, Peniche offers a unique blend of cultural heritage and natural beauty.

Venturing beyond the town, the nearby Berlengas Archipelago, a stunning nature reserve, awaits exploration. Crystal-clear waters,

dramatic cliffs, and diverse marine life make it an ideal spot for snorkeling, diving, or simply enjoying the tranquility of untouched nature.

The archipelago is situated 5.7 miles off the mainland, in a region characterised by two important geomorphological structures Cabo Carvoeiro and the Nazare Canyon. These two formations have a significant influence on the physical environment and ecological features of the region, since they interact with the circulation associated with coastal upwelling to intensify primary production in the ecosystem.

EVENT HEADQUARTERS

The event headquarters will be at the Peniche High Performance Sports Center (CAR). The High Performance Sports Centre in Peniche is dedicated to the training and technical improvement of High Performance athletes and teams of surfing other nautical sport disciplines, triathlon, and several other sports.

This centre, in addition to the excellent technical capacity and equipment, also has the capacity to accommodate 30 people, between athletes and technicians, thus ensuring that High Performance athletes have a truly immersive and worry-free experience other than training in exclusive.

The High Performance Sports Centre in Peniche is a part of the Portuguese Network of High Performance Sports entres/HIGHSPORTUGAL and it is linked to the unique natural conditions for the practice of this kind of sports.

If possible, we recommend that you go by car to Peniche as the car will also be of good use in the event area.

The closestAirport is Lisbon Airport.

To reach Peniche from Lisbon, you can opt for either a bus or a car. The bus journey takes around 1,5 hours, with several departures from Sete Rios bus station. If you prefer the flexibility of driving, take the A8 highway, and you’ll arrive in approximately 50m to 1 hour, depending on traffic. It’s very easy to rent a car at the airport.

MEALS

We will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks during the day for all athletes and officials/supporting crew. Meals are nutrient and done with the purpose of keeping the athletes going all day.

is planned to be a crossover between Berlenga Island and Praia do Molhe Leste.

will be on the beach with the best conditions.

Average air temperature during the day is 20°.

The weather can change rapidly so remember to bring warm clothing and a rain jacket.

Waves: Peniche is the European Wave Capital, known for great surf conditions. It’s a peninsula, as long as there’s swell, we will

always have offshore winds.
